Ian Ollis was born in East London in 1970 and matriculated at the Cambridge High School. Ian then completed his education through the Baptist Theological College, University of Zululand and completed his Master of Arts degree at Wits University in Johannesburg.
Having completed 4 years in seminary, Ian was ordained and served in the Christian ministry in Johannesburg for 6 years before entering the business world as the Agent Principle of a Real Estate Company in 2001.
Ian has had a keen interest in education and training, having worked as a seasonal lecturer at the Wits College of Education, and training staff of real estate companies, political formations and religious institutions among many others.
Politically, Ian joined the Democratic Party in 1999 and served in its various formations before being elected to the City Council of Johannesburg in 2005 and then re-elected as a ward councillor in 2006. In 2009 Ian was elected a member of Parliament and currently serves as the party’s deputy labour spokesperson and is currently serving as the MP for the Sandton Constituency.
