JOBURG PRIDE PARADE | application requirements

Deadlines

All applications must be received by JOBURG PRIDE, by no later than 5:00 p.m, 16th September 2011. No applications will be accepted after this date. Confirmation of Entry Receipt of application does NOT necessarily confirm an entry. JOBURG PRIDE reserves the right to refuse the entry of any individual or entity that, in JOBURG PRIDE’s opinion, does not reflect the celebration intended by the parade, or the purpose or goals of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Community in general.

Placement in Parade

JOBURG PRIDE members and volunteers do their best to accommodate all requests for special placement in the parade. Priority placement is based on date and time completed applications are received with special consideration for contingents with elderly, children, or those with special health needs. The placements for the parade will be finalised after the Float Brief, and entrants will be notified thereafter.

Throwing / handing items into the crowd

We know that many of you wish to give away items to parade viewers. Unfortunately, this encourages crowds to come onto the parade route causing a very dangerous situation. What you can do is have volunteers walk along side the footpaths as your entry goes by and hand things to people – do not encourage them to come onto the street in any way.

Continuous forward motion

JOBURG PRIDE requires all contingents to maintain a continuous forward motion during the parade. No stopping unless directed by Metro officials. All performances or manoeuvres must be “on the move”.
