Tanya Harford Position: (CHAIR) PRIDE DAY / LOGISTICS E-mail: tanya@hsp.co.za

Tanya Harford founded Harford Sports Promotions – a leading sport management, events and media liaison company – in 1989 upon her retirement from the International Women’s Tennis Tour. Through the company, and as its managing director, she organises two of Johannesburg biggest sporting events namely the Pick ‘n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge and the Discovery 702 Walk The Talk. Tanya, who was the 1981 SA Singles Women’s Tennis Champion, was Co-chair of the 2010 Joburg Gay Games Bid Committee.

Fulvio De Stefanis has a BSC Civil Engineering degree from WITS University. In addition to his role in the construction and property development industry, Fulvio has also been a leading dance event promoter for over a decade. He was a co-founder of The Mother of All Raves which commercialized the rave ‘scene’ in South Africa with events attracting over 16 000 people. He brought TRADE, London, to the country and produced the largest gay rave in South Africa, with Channel 4, BBC, Attitude Magazine and DJ International covering the event. Fulvio went on to open Bitch super-club in Johannesburg which operated with great success for a number of years before he opened Legends nightclub in Pretoria. He also has experience in publishing, having launched The Vibe Magazine, with an audited readership of 100 000, which he published for 24 issues.

 

Samantha Durkin Position: MARKETING, WEBSITE, ADMIN E-mail: sam@joburgpride.org

Samantha completed a BA degree in Human Movement Science and Psychology from Rand Afrikaans University (now UJ). She worked in the health and fitness industry followed by a stint in London and two summers in California at a summer camp. Upon returning to South Africa, Samantha joined an event management company and then moved onto Primedia Broadcasting – as event coordinator, then project manager and finally Marketing Manager. Samantha has been involved in large events such as the Cycle Challenge, Walk the Talk, Joburg Day, international and local concerts and social awareness campaigns. She was also on the bidding committee for the Joburg Gay Games. Samantha now runs Switch2Health in South Africa – a new concept to get people active and exercising in exchange for rewards.

 

Jenni Green Position: LOGISTICS, FLOATS AND STALLS E-mail: jenni@joburgpride.org

Jenni obtained an Honours degree in marketing from RAU (University of Johannesburg), after completing a B.Com in Communications and spending a six month working holiday in the U.S.A. Since then, Jenni has been involved in various fields in the sports industry, including marketing and sales. Professional training, coupled with years in the sports industry, and solid relationships that have been built over time, have allowed Jenni to become a partner in an Event Management business, called Tanjent Events. Tanjent is involved in the management and organisation of various sporting events, and assists with the logistics of the parade day for Joburg Pride.

Kerry is an admitted Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary, practicing for her own account under Hengst & McMaster Inc. Kerry graduated from the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) and obtained her B.Proc degree in 2000. While studying she worked for the Justice Department as a Judges Registrar for the Honourable Judge Stegman. Kerry commenced her articles with Tim du Toit Inc in 2001, and gained a vast amount of experience in dealing with major financial institutions on a regular basis. On completion of her articles in 2003 Kerry commenced practicing as an attorney with Shaban Clark attorneys and specialised in litigation. In 2006 Kerry began practicing for her own account. Kerry advises the Joburg Pride board on any legal issues.

 

Josef Talotta  Position: Side Dish, Media. E-mail: josef@joburgpride.org

US-born Josef Talotta moved to SA in 1992, where he was conceptualiser and founding editor of two local publications: Leisure Options and Sandton magazine. Talotta was previously Johannesburg bureau chief for Condé Nast House & Garden and GQ, and design editor of Sunday Times Lifestyle. An author (The World’s Greatest Cities; Why I’ll Never Live In Oz Again) and award-winning columnist, Talotta has been a regular contributor to most SA glossies including Style, Business Day Wanted, Eat Out and House & Leisure as well as many UK-based titles, including Time Out, Spruce, Condé Nast Traveller and Wallpaper. He now heads up precinct development for South Point, sourcing juicy retail, dining, entertainment and events concepts to fast-track the sustainable regeneration of Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

 

Ian Ollis (MP) (Non-executive) Ian Ollis was born in East London in 1970 and matriculated at the Cambridge High School. Ian then completed his education through the Baptist Theological College, University of Zululand and completed his Master of Arts degree at Wits University in Johannesburg. Having completed 4 years in seminary, Ian was ordained and served in the Christian ministry in Johannesburg for 6 years before entering the business world as the Agent Principle of a Real Estate Company in 2001. Ian has had a keen interest in education and training, having worked as a seasonal lecturer at the Wits College of Education, and training staff of real estate companies, political formations and religious institutions among many others. Politically, Ian joined the Democratic Party in 1999 and served in its various formations before being elected to the City Council of Johannesburg in 2005 and then re-elected as a ward councillor in 2006. In 2009 Ian was elected a member of Parliament and currently serves as the party’s deputy labour spokesperson and is currently serving as the MP for the Sandton Constituency.
